Cardiff City’s Dave Jones and Peter Ridsdale are in talks with three major players over new deals to keep them with the Bluebirds.

Captain Darren Purse is set to get the 1 year extension he wanted to fend off interest from several big clubs. Purse has maintained his disire to stay with Cardiff.

Irishman Stephen McPhail is also in talks after his first season at the club. The 27 year old still has 2 years to run but Jones sees the midfielder as a key player and will offer the player a 3 year deal.

Joe Ledley, the highly rated youngster, is also negotiating a new deal after another impressive season in which the defender/midfielder started every league game for the Bluebirds.

Jones planned to rebuild his squad from a nucleus of key players, the three in talks are seen as vital to the club’s future and success.
