Cardiff City will not be signing giant Nigerian centre-half Danny Shittu after he re-signed for his former club QPR after the expiry of his short term Millwall deal.

The Bluebirds had shown a strong interest in Shittu, and were prepared to wait patiently until 20th January when he became a free agent. However, a number of other clubs were interested in the former Bolton Wanderers man and former club QPR could count on the lure of an extended stay in London and remained in pole position.

Cardiff City meanwhile have swooped to add Israeli International Dekel Keinan from Blackpool and while Dave Jones remains in the market for another player, most likely a defender, there have been no strong noises in the media as to potential targets.

City currently have Keinan, Mark Hudson, Gabor Gyepes and Darcy Blake competing for centre-half positions while full-back Kevin McNaughton provides alternative emergency cover and has impressed in that role recently.
