Bent Deal Off Amid Bluebirds Embarassment

Cardiff City have withdrawn their contract offer to Marcus Bent after a dramatic U-turn saw the player head to Birmingham City for talks.

This is the latest in a series of blows and is embarrassing for the club who had already reported the signing as complete and Peter Ridsdale who confirmed Bent’s capture and that he would be on the plane to Portugal.

With Bent pulling out, we are now lacking 2 strikers going into pre-season which is quite frankly naive and a pretty poor showing. Last season our new recruits missed weeks of the season gaining ‘match fitness’ and it seems we have learnt no lessons and will again be un-prepared. This season we do not even have the excuse that Chopra left during pre-season.

Cardiff City have had months to tie up signings, but have done little. Whether Bent stabbed us in the back or not, other targets should have been lined up and it was not as if things shouldn’t have been tied up prior to this.

Is it the club at fault for this debacle? Or shouls we be able to trust the words of agents and players?
