Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed his mild trepidation about taking on Cardiff City at Ninian Park and vowed to ensure his side are up for the test and come away with a win.

With a packed Premiership schedule, the Gunners boss will be desperately hoping to get the job done first time and avoid the need for a tiring, and time-consuming replay at the Emirates. Cardiff City meanwhile would welcome that eventuality and a draw would be seen as a favourable result.

Wenger spoke of his feelings on the match:

“The FA Cup draw landed us a tricky tie, Cardiff are strong at home and there will be a big atmosphere against a good team, so we will be tested there, but we will be ready.”

“It`s the kind of tie that you need to come out with a positive result in.”

The FA Cup represents Arsenal’s best chance of silverware this season – a fact that Wenger will have realised and will strive to ensure the favourites live up to their reputation. Cardiff City though have nothing to fear after strengthening last season’s squad after beating Middlesborough (away) and standing up to Portsmouth in the final. We look stronger this season, and could well prove tough opposition for our more illustrious visitors.
