Cardiff City fans have moved from support, to disgruntlement through to protest marching and an online petition when it comes to the controversial figure of Peter Ridsdale. Revelations of the past couple of months have meant that Ridsdale’s position is untenable – but with major shareholders also looking to distance themselves from the club – we’ve had few options.

Finally, this week has seen major advancements from Malaysian investors who have been long-term admirers of the club and have undertaken extensive due diligence with a mind to investment, and perhaps a full takeover of our debt-ridden club. The Malaysians are currently meeting with Ridsdale with a mind to pumping in £6m as soon as next week.

Ridsdale has suffered a barrage of abuse in recent times, and has been quieter than ever before in the media. The evidence against him appears insurmountable and whatever good work he did in staving off a previous threat of administration, and re-negotiating the loan notes has been undone by persistnet overspending and dependence on securing outside investment.

Ridsdale himself is a major shareholder at the club, despite never having ploughed his own money in. It seems likely the Malaysians would want Ridsdale gone although there may be a ‘handover’ period whereby he would stay on to brief a newcomer on the current situation / liabilities etc. Virtually every CCFC fan is of the belief that Peter Ridsdale must be removed if the club is to move forward.

There has been a good response from Cardiff City fans, with additional sympathy and support from fans of Leeds United, Barnsley and several other clubs. A Cardiff City Football Club backed by astute Malaysian businessmen, intent on running a viable business model appears a far more preferable proposition than the boom or bust model preferred by Mr Ridsdale. Can TG pull it off…..?
