West Brom 3-3 Cardiff City

Cardiff City got a dream start when Paul Parry’s shot deflected over Dean Kiely with less than 30 seconds gone.

Parry got his second and doubled the lead with a fine solo effort, firing home from a tight angle. However, WBA cut the deficit moments later when Jonathan Greening’s free-kick was nodded home by substiture Roman Bednar.

The score remained 2-1 until Joe Ledley broke at speed and fired home courtesy of a fortunate bounce in the Albion area.

However West Brom changed their foprmation and caused serious problems for Cardiff. A Phillips goal was ruled out for offside as Albion attacked and Chris Brunt’s crosses were a constant danger.

The second WBA goal came when defender Martin Albrechtson’s nodded effort looped under the crossbar. The Cardiff area continued to be peppered and an equaliser looked inevitable – it came courtesy of the unfortunate Roger Johnson who found himself in the way and deflected over the hapless Oakes.

Joe Ledley has a stonewall penalty shout turned down when pushed by Kiely but the referee, who was poor all afternoon, gave nothing. Cardiff will be disappointed a draw was a fair result in a breath-taking game and a point at the league leaders is no mean feat.
