Manager Neil Warnock has been reflecting on his first full month in charge of Cardiff City.

Speaking to Wales Online the other day, Warnock admitted what everybody knew, which is that we don’t carry a huge goal threat in reality up front, and he confirmed that would be something he was looking to rectify when the January transfer window opens.

Especially given successive defeats have now seen us slip down the table and towards the relegation zone, but Warnock is confident with further improvement and then some strengthening to give us other options we can more than climb away and back up the table.

Again believing at least a point should’ve been taken from the Newcastle game.

‘We haven`t got a lot of goals in the squad at the moment, we`ve got to make more out of it which we`re working on. We`ve just got to get January and see what we can do really, but I thought Junior Hoilett had his best game for us and I thought Nooney did alright until he tired.’

A month through his time at the club though, there were positives he could take based on what he’d seen from the players, and those he brought in as free agents upon his arrival.

‘Kieran Richardson came in for his first game and it was a tough one to come in for but I thought he did alright. So there were a lot of plusses. I thought the lads at the back were superb. We`ve conceded from throw ins, which If I was manager of Todwick Sunday League like I used to be I`d be disappointed, and we`re in the Championship. We didn`t get the rub of the green last weekend we definitely didn`t get it today. If we`d got that we`d have been going home with a fabulous point.’

‘We played some good stuff second half, we had some good positions where we got balls across the box. We just couldn`t pick the man out. It was typified when Nooney went through on the right and we had two spare in the middle. He took a shot with his left foot when just a side pass and it`s a goal, but I can`t fault the effort, especially second half.’

Clearly his last comment shows he’s looking for further improvement in decision making moving forward as well.
