Cardiff’s Championship season continued with a draw at Deepdale against Preston on Saturday.

A chance to move into the play-offs was missed by Cardiff, however a point was brought back from Preston following a nil-nil draw that leaves the Bluebirds just two-points off the top six and remaining in eighth.

Without a win, including this game, in eight-matches the fact Cardiff couldn’t get the points is perhaps a little disappointing but with Preston having the best chance, when Clarke headed against the bar, it could have been worse!

Chances were few and far between in the first half with Preston having the better of them really but neither Hugill or Cunningham could actually hit the target with chances they had.

The best, and pretty much only, chance Cardiff had in the opening half, which didn’t see either ‘keeper forced into a save, saw Mason’s effort, which was on target, blocked by Preston defender Clarke.

In the second half Newcastle loanee Ameobi had a volley, which he fired over when he should have done better, at least hitting the target with Pilkington’s effort going just over with Preston ‘keeper Pickford saving from Mason.

That Preston chance, against the frame of goal, saw Marshall, on his return from suspension and again instantly resorted to the side, beaten but Clarke’s header clipped the crossbar.

Pickford was forced into a save, turning a Whittingham’s freekick around the post with Hugill missing an injury-time chance to win it for Preston.
