Cardiff’s Capital One Cup run is over after a defeat at the Stadium:MK against MK Dons on Tuesday.

The unbeaten Cardiff run this season, along with the Bluebirds’ run in the League Cup for another year of course, ended when a Revell goal to give them the lead was lost. Baker sent the tie into extra time with Murphy grabbing this winner to put MK Dons through two-one.

Following a goalless first half Cardiff made a great start to the second 45-minutes when Noone’s ball to the far post was finished off by Revell (53) to put the Bluebirds ahead.

It looked as though that goal could be enough to book a place in the next round but it wasn’t to be….

Baker (78) took the game into extra time when he scored 12-minutes from time, following up Hall’s effort to beat Moore, with the ‘keeper recalled for this cup-tie having dropped out in favour of Marshall recently with his West Brom move seemingly falling though.

As the threat of a penalty shootout moved closer, after the first half of extra time went by, MK Dons’ Norwich loanee Murphy (108) scored the winner on his debut to put them into round three and leave the Bluebirds to ‘concentrate on the league’ now, until the FA Cup anyway!
