Cardiff’s Championship season continued with a draw with Rotherham at the Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday.

A hat-trick, of sorts, was scored by Anthony Pilkington but one of those was past his own ‘keeper in Cardiff’s two-two draw with Rotherham.

Pilkington opened the scoring with a goal on 25-minutes when his effort went in via the post but Rotherham went into half time level when Joe Newell, with the visitors having offered little prior to this, scored just ahead of the interval.

The Millers went into the lead with Pilkington scoring an own goal four-minutes into the second half when he turned a corner past David Marshall but on the hour his third goal, his second at the right end, came when he beat Rotherham’s Lee Camp again to have Cardiff back on level terms.

Ahead of the opener Joe Mason and Pilkington had threatened to break the deadlock with the latter eventually doing this. Debutant Lex Immers and Bruno Ecuele Manga had chances to win it but they couldn’t take them.

Lee Peltier, having missed a chance to win it when he headed a Peter Whittingham freekick wide, was sent off five-minutes from time meaning Cardiff finished with 10-men against the relegation threatened side with the Bluebirds remaining in ninth and some five-points off the play-off places.

These were the other results.
