Cardiff’s Championship season continued with a win at the Cardiff City Stadium against Reading on Saturday.

The goals were scored by Cardiff, which haven’t come too freely of late, with Jones and Connolly scoring in either half as the Bluebirds saw off Reading two-nil at the weekend to win for the first time in a month.

It wasn’t a very relaxed atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium but Cardiff started well with Noone causing problems to Reading with ‘keeper Al-Habsi making a couple of saves to deny him.

Marshall’s first meaningful save, which wouldn’t be the last, was made as he denied Reading a counter-attack goal when he kept out Blackman as he looked to give the Royals the lead.

Another goalless half looked one until Jones (44) headed Cardiff into the lead on half time from a Ralls corner with tensions eased.

If that first half goal hadn’t helped calm things down early in the second half Connolly (53) headed in another Ralls corner to make it two-nil, which would have been three if Gunnarsson’s drive wasn’t just off target.

Saadi, who hadn’t managed his Cardiff debut until then, almost marked this with a debut goal within seconds of his introduction but Reading ‘keeper Al-Habsi denied the Bluebirds striker a dream start to life.

Not once, twice but three times Marshall made outstanding saves within a minute as Reading threatened to get back into the game but they couldn’t find a way past the Scottish ‘keeper who kept his latest cleansheet as Cardiff returned to winning ways.

Victory took Cardiff up to seventh and just outside of the play-off places but will this be a win to get a run going, of both goals and results? We’ll find out, but not until after the international break!
