Cardiff’s Capital One Cup run goes on after a one-nil win at the Cardiff City Stadium against AFC Wimbledon on Tuesday.

The Bluebirds, for a second time in four-days, had Noone to thank with him again on the scoresheet, and scoring a fine goal, to put Cardiff into the second round of the League cup when they saw off League 2 side Wimbledon.

Given he’s scored two in two, one from the bench, it begs the question shouldn’t he be in the starting XI Russell Slade selects regularly?

Cardiff were tested by the Dons with ex-Bluebird Meades working his way into a good position but failing to finish with Newcastle loanee Ameobi making Shea save in the Wimbledon goal but then came, what was ultimately the winner.

In first half Noone (45+1), following on from his curling effort into the top corner from the bench against Fulham in the Championship on Saturday, the winger curled home a freekick to send Cardiff into the half time break one-up.

A second goal could have come but with Cardiff fialing to do this there was always the risk Neal Ardley’s side, of course a former Bluebird himself, could get level and Taylor twice failed when in good position with Elliott heading against the bar late on as Slade’s side advanced….
