Cardiff’s Championship season continued with a first defeat of the campaign at the Cardiff City Stadium against Hull on Tuesday.

Not only did Cardiff lose for the first time the season in the league this defeat for the Bluebirds, after an early Diame goal then a late one from Hernandez saw Hull through to a two-nil win, it was a first setback at the Cardiff City Stadium in league and cup this term as second place was lost and we dropped back to sixth.

I still think most would have taken that before the season began!

When you’ve won three-matches in a row it isn’t too likely that you’ll make changes, and Slade didn’t to this as he named the same XI for a fourth-match in succession and this almost brought Cardiff and early, if not fortunate, lead….

Dikgacoi’s attempted cross was mishit and almost caught out Hull ‘keeper McGregor but Hull got away with it and then went ahead! Diame (8) was left unmarked to make the most of poor defending to fire past Marshall.

What Hull had was what they were happy to get, the Cardiff pressure, but without a real sense the Bluebirds would break through, was withstood with Dikgacoi and Manga both having half chances they couldn’t take.

As Cardiff pushed for the leveller, which we know we had to, Hernandez (80), put in by Diame, beat Cardiff ‘keeper Marshall into the corner to make sure of the points 10-minutes from time.
