Long forgotten Etien Velikonja, who is currently on loan at Rio Ave, has said he is excited by what the future holds for him under manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The 25 year old Slovenian International joined us back in the summer of 2012 on a four year deal for a fee believed to be in excess of £2million, but having been rather more identified by Vincent Tan than former manager Malky Mackay in his time with us he has only featured in four or so games, but given the changes that have taken place at the club he told Nogomania that he was looking forward to returning in the summer and having a real crack at life in Cardiff.
The player explained that he was glad to get out on loan in January, and it was with a view to getting some game time back under his belt, so he could come into contention for next season.
‘I was happy when Ole was appointed. With his arrival I finally got a fresh start. For the first time in a year and a half I got smart honest answers and after that the club didn’t complicate things when I got an offer from Portugal.’
He goes on to say that he wanted to go out on loan last summer but it didn’t happen, but upon joining the club Ole had a good chat with him, and said it would be best for him to go out and play regularly and get his confidence back up, so he could return to us ‘well prepared.’
‘My team mates are telling me that Solskjaer is doing a great job so I really hope that next season I’ll be part of his team.’
Be interesting to see what the lad can do given a run if it works out that way now moving forward.
