Thommo Super-Strike Earns Friendly Draw

The forgotten man of Cardiff City FC popped up with a timely reminder of his presence as Steve Thompson fired in an impressive strike to seal a point for Cardiff City.

It took some time to get used to the weather for City, and they started sluggishly but found their rhythm against Vitoria Setubal.

It was more of a workout for the players than a serious game but second half substitute Thompson rifled in a great strike from 18 yards after a flowing team move. He nearly had another at the close but was narrowly denied.

Thompson has been transfer listed for over a year now, but remains one of only two frontline strikers at the club. When on form, he can be a dangerous player and impressive goals against Burnley (on debut) and Blackpool away last year add to his status. However, he just doesn;t get enough but will always give 100%. Last season he was left to do donkey work when chasing the game in the last 15 minutes, either playing with the static Hasselbaink or out-of-position Parry.
