Swans Sack Laudrup

Ahead of Cardiff’s biggest game of the season Swansea have decided to part company with Michael Laudrup, with the Dane sacked as manager of our Welsh rivals on Tuesday.

Enjoying a good first season in the Premier League, winning the Capital One Cup and taking them into Europe wasn’t enough to save him his job and with them potentially falling into the Premier League relegation zone if we beat them this weekend, having lost the backing of the board, they’ve sacked him.

How quickly things turn. Not too long ago reports were saying the likes of Chelsea and Everton were hoping to make him their next manager and he only signed a new contract in March last year but now the next big thing has been sacked.

That’s football for you these days though isn’t it, as things do change so quickly.

Garry Monk and Alan Curtis have been put in charge of the first team ahead of the game this weekend so now I’m not sure if this is a good or bad thing for our chances of completing a historic double over our rivals? Quite often the changing of managers brings a reaction from the players so our chances of beating Swansea might have been better under Laudrup’s management.

If only they’d given him one more game!
