A few hours ago Stoke City released an official statement confirming that the proposed swop deal of strikers Kenwyne Jones and Peter Odemwingie was progressing well.

The statement they released said.

‘Stoke can confirm it has reached an agreement with Cardiff over a move for striker Peter Odemwingie that will see Kenwyne Jones head to South Wales in a player exchange transfer.’

The statement continues to explain that the deal remains subject to both players passing their respective medicals and upon successful completion of personal term negotiations, but it is hoped the deal will be rubber stamped over the weekend.

Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer also confirmed the progress, without giving anything else away, as he said to the press.

‘There is potentially a deal to be done. Obviously, you cannot confirm anything until papers are signed and medical are done, but we are quite a long way down that road. I can’t say anything about any other players, but I know Stoke have brought out a statement so I can confirm what they have said.’

Odemwingie joined us over last summers transfer window, and has gone on to make 17 appearances across all competitions and has found the net twice in that time.

29 year old Jones, has only appeared for Mark Hughes ten times so far this campaign, but he has found the net on five occasions across all competitions.
