Stoke City Thoughts On Cardiff Clash

Vital Cardiff City talks to Stoke City fan Chris ahead of this weekend’s Championship opener at Ninian Park:

Are you happy with your departures / signings ?

No, not really – again we seem to have missed out. I’m happy with the team up front as we’ve signed two more strikers – Jon Parkin and Richard Cresswell to play along with Ricardo Fuller and Mamady Sidibe. But we’re still short in midfield and defence with Carl Hoefkens going to WBA and Andy Griffin deciding to not return to Stoke and go to Derby instead.

Aspirations for this season?

Most fans will be expecting a play-off place this time, but at this stage I’m always just hoping for ‘boring’ mid table security.

Stoke City player to watch?

Ricardo Fuller

( Jamaican striker, formerly of Portsmouth and Southampton. He has commanded a million pound fee but struggled with persistent knee injuries. Finished top scorer for Stoke last season with 10 goals including one in a 3-0 victory over The Bluebirds. )

If you could have one Cardiff player on a free, who and why?

Whilst Robbie Fowler is always going to be a favourite for most people, I would have liked to have seen Trevor Sinclair at the Brit.

Prediction for the game?

1-1.

Many thanks to Chris, of Vital Stoke. The Potters signed a Cardiff City target this season in towering frontman Jon Parkin, they were among our rivals for a play-off place last season but the general feeling seems to be that they are less well equipped this time around.

Everything to play for, a good start is important – C’mon the Bluebirds!!!

fowler is being seen as the “top man” i reckon he will be a flop. he wont be able to run much and i think mclean nd feeney will be our top boys this season, and i hate to say it but it think it will either be stoke 2-0 or stoke 3-1
