Cardiff City have confirmed the appointement of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the club’s new boss and the successor to Malky Mackay. It’s a much anticipated return to the Premiership for the former Manchester United star and Solskjaer revelaed upon accepting the job that the fans were key to his decision.

Speaking at the CCFC Press Conference, Solskjaer said:

“Every single Saturday, supporters scream out for heroes and if you are a manager you want that passion. I’m looking forward to convincing them I`m right man to take them forward.”

“I`ve always dreamt about being a Premier League manager. I’m here now up to me to prove I`m up to the level.”

“I need a full stadium, I need passion and the Premier League again – that`s where I`ve had best times as footballer.”

Commertators and media sources have spoken of the atmosphere at the Cardiff City Stadium this season. To many Bluebirds fans, it probably doesn’t feel that strong – especially compared to the cauldron that Ninian Park could become when full and the supported unthused. The Swansea City derby was obviously a special occasion, while the opening home game against Manchester City was probably the best atmosphere since the move to the CCS.

Clearly Solskjaer has recognised the importance of re-aligning the club with its supporter base, and I would expect further comments from him regarding fans, working together and trying to remove the animosity and concern regarding recent goings on.

Solsjkaer will bring his assistants at Molde with him to South Wales so Mark Dempsey and Richard Harris will be joining the club as part of Solkjaer’s new backroom team.

Welcome OGS.

Time to move on and I’m happy with the appointment of OGS, I think he’ll do well. At least I hope he will.

Certainly started well and that’s the right way to get people on side.
