Selection Issues For Cardiff City

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones is sweating on his team selection for tomorrow’s crucial clash with Sheffield Wednesday.

Midfielder Stephen McPhail has an ankle injury and will need a late fitness test. With Joe Ledley’s hamstring injury, that creates a dilemma for the manager. Aaron Ramsey would surely move into a central role, with Paul Parry or Trevor Sinclair taking up a wide role.

However, Sinclair failed to impress in the FAW cup midweek, so youngster Darcy Blake could come into contention though Jones is thought not to favour two teenagers in midfield. The choice will be to either bring in Steve Thompson (and move Parry wide) or include Sinclair on the right and Whittingham on the left.

Another enforced change will be the inclusion of Darren Purse in place of the suspended Glenn Loovens.

For Sheffield Wednesday, Graham Kavanagh is expected to start but strikers Akpo Sodje and Francis Jeffers will both miss out.

That means that Chelsea loan signing Ben Sahar will go straight into the Owls squad. Midfielder Burton O’Brien is also available for selection but Kenny Lunt has re-joined Crewe Alexandra on loan.
