Cardiff City Chairman has spoken out after weekend news reports regarding his consultancy firm WH Sports, recently put into liquidation and labelled as ‘failed’ in media reports.

Cardiff City fans will recognise the name WH Sports as the vehicle owned be Ridsdale while he was not directly employed by the club. This allowed the payments for his services and includes the infamous £500k bonus for keeping us afloat.

Risdale then joined the Cardiff City payroll in October 2007, meaning WH Sports was therefore redundant and had no income. Ridsdale told the Western Mail:

“All fee income ceased and therefore WH Sports Group had no other income and no reason or means to continue to trade.”

“The only material creditor was HMRC (The Inland Revenue).”

“The company was closed down and all creditors will be paid.”

Peter Risdale is and probably always will be an easy target. Leeds United fans still hold him almost exclusively responsible for their demise and while that saga will always represent a huge blot on Ridsdale’s C.V. – it seems he has done a tremendous job in saving Cardiff City FC from a similar fate.

Some fans remain sceptical and still harbour doubts as to his exact plans for the club, a lack or re-investment and perceived lack of transparancy. However, the expenditure on Michael Chopra, new training ground and stadium are not indicative of behind the scenes trouble and for the Peter Risdadle deserves great credit.
