Rapid Comeback On For Cardiff City Star

Cardiff City defender Gabor Gyepes is one player more than happy with the postponement to the Charlton Athletic game as he continues to progress rapidly following injury.

Gyepes was a certainty to miss out against the Addicks, but the postponement of that game, and the shifting of the FA Cup clash with Arsenal to Monday night has meant that Gyepes has had a lengthy spell to recover – an unexpected opportunity he is grabbing with both hands.

Gyepes’ hamstring injury was not as severe as first expected and he is back in full training, although taking care not to over-stretch. Dave Jones reckons he has a good chance of returning and told the Echo:

‘Gabor is making good progress after his hamstring injury and aiming to be ready for the Arsenal match. He has a genuine chance of being available for the Arsenal match.’

Although great news for Cardiff City fans, allowing the impressive defensive line to remain consistent – the return og Hungarian Gyepes will deny Darren Purse a chance to earn the new contract he desperately wants. A move to Norwich City fell through as we couldn’t sign a replacement and Darren’s chances seem to be diminishing fast.

Shame for Pursey in a way. Real shame – he deserves one last crack at a contract. We owe it to him after his years of loyalty to this football club.
