Cardiff City came away from Loftus Road with all three points after beating QPR 2-0.

The Bluebirds dropped Warren Feeney for the clash, with our frontline struggling to perform. Paul Parry, normally a midfielder, slotted alongside Steve MacLean.

It has to be said, that Cardiff were on top for nearly all the match. On this performance, QPR will be in a relegation battle although off-field activities may have played a part in this poor performance.

Parry hit a Sinclair cross wide, and QPR had a penalty shout declined with the ball striking Johnson’s arm from close range. A period of heavy Cardiff pressure led to the opener on 29 minutes. A Parry corner was touched on by Johnson, and STEVE MacLEAN was on hand to sweep home with the home defense static. His first goal for the club and a welcome release after his late penalty miss last week.

City missed several good opportunities before half time, one worrying moment when Kevin McNaughton was stretchered off with what looked like a calf problem.

HT QPR 0-1 Cardiff.

HAving dominated the first half, and missed a host of chances, I was beginning to worry about the home side’s response and the usual turn of events in which we sit back second half and allow teams back into it. We didn’t.

There was an increase in tempo from the R’s, and an early Stefan Moore shot hit the post with Turnbull beaten – a let off for City. We lost Capaldi to injury but the mark of our increased strength was bringing on Whittingham on the left wing.

The game was wrapped up with a neat goal on the hour. A number of passes in the final third found McPhail whose cross was headed home by PAUL PARRY, who vindicated his manager’s selection with a fine all round performance.

McPhail, Sinclair and Parry all missed chances before the pacy Ehpraim had a shot well saved by Turnbull but it was to be Cardiff’s day and they notched their first away win of 2007 !
