Former Manchester United striker Federico Macheda could be about to leave Cardiff for Italian club Pescara. Macheda, along with Adam Le Fondre and Kagisho Dikgacoi aren’t in Paul Trollope’s future plans.

Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting this interest in Macheda who (after bursting onto the scene as a teenager with United) has often struggled to live up to expectation with him managing just eight-goals in 25-matches for Cardiff since his arrival in 2014.

That includes a return of no goals last season, albeit from only eight appearances.

Macheda is one of those Trollope is willing to let find a new club with the 24-year-old on for a return to Italy having started his career with Lazio before joining United’s academy side spending six-years at Old Trafford.

Trollope is quoted by the South Wales Echo as saying of South African international Dikgacoi, who didn’t travel to Germany for pre-season.

‘He’s in a similar situation to Le Fondre and Macheda. If the right thing comes along in terms of a move away then it’s something we’ll consider.’

The 31-year-old midfielder has one-year left on his contract with the head coach adding.

‘He stayed back with the younger group to stay and train there, I thought that would be a move which would benefit all parties.’
