Cardiff City have today confirmed that defender Semi Ajayi has turned his loan spell at Rotherham United into a permanent deal.

The 23 year old came to Cardiff initially on a loan spell from Arsenal in the second half of the 2014/15 campaign but that was made permanent over the summer as a free agent.

He didn’t however debut for us, instead taking in a five game spell with Wimbledon in the first half of the 2015/16 campaign, before being loaned to Crewe Alexandra between November and March of that year where he made a further 13 appearances.

He made the move to the New York Stadium at the end of January ahead of the transfer window closing and with nine appearances and one goal to his name, Rotherham have today made his loan spell permanent.

The deal is for an undisclosed fee and is subject to international clearance but there won’t be an issue with that.

Cardiff thank him for his efforts whilst he was with us and wish him the best of luck for his future.
