Cardiff City started with a similar team to the Southampton victory, but Dave Jones rotated his strikeforce to pair Paul Parry with new boy Jay Bothroyd.

It was Parry who struck early, latching onto a Whittingham pass to fire home on 7 minutes before extending the lead with a header soon after.

Cardiff were completely on top but conceeded a disappointing goal to Jo Kuffour as he ghosted past the defence to slot past Heaton.

Thompson, Commingues and McCormack made appearances from the bench and we go into the draw for the 2nd round.
