David Forde:

He was number 1 last season and has done little wrong so far. For me, the jersey is his to lose or others to take.



Tony Capaldi:

Attacking defender, and seems solid enough so far. He does need time to work on partnerships but will be a consistent performer.




Kevin McNaughton:

Showed what a good player he is last term and reads the game exceptionally. Calm, assured and a certain starter.




Roger Johnson:

Aerial presence, good feet, good distribution – Johnson is a footballing centre-back and deserves his place after waiting patiently and not having had a bad game yet.




Glenn Loovens (if fit):

So strong, committed and a natural defender. Glenn is a big player for us and wont stand for any nonsense.




Joe Ledley:

Excellent fitness, great left foot and real eye for a pass. Ledley should start in midfield when the pitches are dry and suit his passing.




Trevor Sinclair:

An outstanding pre-season thrusts Sinclair into the starting XI. He has plenty to offer and has supplied quality and a cutting edge so far.




Stephen McPhail:

Still an important player for us. He has the ability to command our play and will be under pressure to perform. Exemplary passing when on form and should start.




Gavin Rae:

Able deputy to Scimeca with plenty to prove. He is not as physical but can be a goof foil for McPhail and have a big impact on the game.




Steve MacLean:

Outstanding goalscoring record and has looked sharp during the pre-season. Almost certain to start as first choice striker.




Warren Feeney:

Not a forgotten man but has plenty to prove. Feeney’s work rate cannot be questioned and he seems in determined mood. A tough call, but he warrents (sorry!) a start.





Subs:



Purse: Tough call to leave the captain out, but lacking in fitness and not enjoyed a great pre-season.


Gunter: Bags of potential and looking to force his way in, his enthusiasm could be important.


Ramsey: Another youngster looking to grab his chance. Big things are expected, but he is picked on merit and not potential. Played very well when called upon.


Fowler: Hard to leave him out, but fitness is just not there and only 20 mins gametime keeps him on the bench.


Parry / Whittingham: Go with whoever is more eager. Parry offers cover on both wings, but Whittingham has genuine quality. Toughest call yet.
