Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale scoffed at BBC reports linking the Bluebirds with a move for powerful Hull City striker Jon Parkin.

Risdale denied the claims and laughed them off as ‘silly season’ nonsense. Whether this means that Ridsdale will be pursuing a better calibre of player is unknown – but the signs aren’t great so far !

Instead Ridsdale confirmed he was concentrating on adding a goalkeeper to the squad, a move which has been going on for several weeks despite hints that a deal with a top target was nearly finalised:

‘What I will say is that I have spoken to agents about three or four goalkeepers because that is where our priority lies at the moment.’

Are Cardiff City biding their time to get the right players in? Or are they missing the boat and unable to attract quality at a reasonable price? A VitalCardiff poll is now open on the front page where you can add your thoughts – alternatively, leave a comment at the foot of this article…
