No Fox In Cardiff City’s Box

Cardiff City have been plunged back into the ‘silly season’ market following the big money sale of Michael Chopra to Sunderland.

The move allows Dave Jones far more freedom in the transfer market as the Bluebirds look to replace their top marksman.

Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler is a confirmed and well-documented target. However, reports over the weekend linked City with a move for Blackburn Rovers reject Francis Jeffers.

Arsene Wenger’s ‘fox-in-the-box’ enjoyed a successful loan period with Ipswich Town last season and the Tractor Boys have been trying to tie up a permanent deal for the striker.

Cardiff were cited as rivals for the former England man’s signiture but that claim has been refuted by club chairman Peter Ridsdale who dismissed the rumour as ‘nonsense’.

Cardiff are looking to add one, possibly two proven goalscorers to the squad before the season kicks off in August.
