Newport County manager Peter Beadle sees tonight’s FAW Premier cup semi-final against Cardiff City as the perfect opportunity to return to form after seeing the Exiles hammered 3-0 by Thurrock at the weekend.

Beadle told the South Wales Argus:

‘This is the ideal opportunity to move on from Saturday and put it behind us, this is a fantastic game for us,’

‘We are aiming to reach the final again and must believe we can do that, even though we respect Cardiff’s ability.’

It’ll be extremely tough, but the same was true of Swansea in the last round and Wrexham last season.’

‘We don’t often get hammered like we did on Saturday and usually we respond very well to any kind of defeat, we have the previous four times we’ve lost in the league this season.’

Cardiff City have named a squad featuring plenty of young talent as well as some experienced pros hoping for some match action. However, the likes of Darren Purse and Trevor Sinclair, both with Premiership experience, do not frighten the NCFC boss:

‘I expect a big performance from my players and believe I will get it.’

The winners will face either Carmarthen Town or Llanelli in the final.
