Cardiff City are still searching for a goalkeeper, maybe 2, to challenge David Forde for the Number 1 jersey next season.

Things have been quiet recently but many of the names linked with the club have been denied by Peter Ridsdale.

One possibility (speculation only so far) is highly rated Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul. The youngster is hotly tipped for an exciting future but has only played one game for the Magpies, an important UEFA Cup game in which he impressed.

Krul told Sky Sports News:

‘I’m allowed to go on loan for next season so we’re looking for a club now.’

‘We’re waiting for clubs, maybe Championship, we’ll have to see.’

No interest from the club has been confirmed but Krul is available and could provide a good short term solution to our problem. He has good pedigree and would fill the position until Cardiff can afford the right permanent move.

However, we know that Dave Jones met with a player to discuss a move in California recently while Tim Krul was on Holland U21 duty in his home country. Nevertheless, no action has been forthcoming and Cardiff may need to act quickly to bring in a good quality keeper.
