Former Cardiff City goalkeeper Neil Alexander has completed a free transfer move to fellow Championship play-off hopefuls Ipswich Town.

Town, like Cardiff City, were previously locked in talks with former Everton goalkeeper Richard Wright but both parties proved unsuccessful and Cardiff moved to snap up 33 year old Michael Oakes while Ipswich have bolstered their options with the capture of Alexander.

The Scottish International failed to agree a new contract at Ninian Park and eventually lost his place in the starting line-up. Until that point, Alex had his best season for Cardiff City and looked a much more assured goalkeeper.

His shot-stopping had never been in question but doubts remained over his ability to command his area and collect crosses – a priority for current Bluebirds boss Dave Jones.

Neil was a loyal and dedicated servant to CCFC, he didnt want to leave and showed great professionalism during his time at Ninian Park – we wish him all the best for the future.
