Former Cardiff City striker Michael Chopra has rejoined the Bluebirds on an initial 2 month loan deal as cover for injured front pair McCormack and Bothroyd.

Chopra left prior to last season joining Sunderland in a £5m deal. Despite netting a few goals, things have not gone well for Chops up North and he has slipped down the pecking order with the Black Cats.

Now Chopra has returned to City and will go striaght into the squad for Saturdays clash against QPR. He is likely to partner either Parry or Johnson in attack and will be looking to get his career back on track.

Chopra enjoys playing with close friend and former team-mate Stephen McPhail – the two former Barnsley players have a good understanding and will be hoping to re-establish their partnership and score some goals.

This is excellent news for Cardiff City fans. Already popular, Chopra is a £5m striker, proven to score goals at this level with fantastic pace and work-rate. Sunderland were thought to prefer an initial loan with a view to a permanent switch in January – that would again appeal to Bluebirds fans.

Welcome back Chops!
