Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack scored his first league goal for the club as the Bluebirds found a late goal again.
Despite both teams threatening, the game continued goal-less until midway through the second half when some sloppy defending allowed Lewis Guy to chest down and finish neatly for Doncaster Rovers.
The atmosphere was good and though the game looked to be heading towards a quiet end, substitutes Thompson and Bothroyd made nuisances of themselves allowing McCormack to bury a loose ball.
