McCormack Returns To Cardiff City

Cardiff City will welcome back two former players when Leeds United visit CCS tonight, with former loan goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel and ex-striker Ross McCormack both likely to start against the ir former club and manager.

Ross McCormack moved to Leeds earlier this season, after making two league appearances for the Bluebirds in the 2010/11 season – both as substitute.

McCormack had become disillusioned with life at Cardiff City, after repeatedly being relegated to the subs bench in favour of Michael Chopra. Even when we were struggling for goals, McCormack had limited opportunities to re-create his excellent initial form and goalscoring record following his move from Motherwell.

When he was given the chance to play, it was often from an unfamiliar wide midfield role. His confidence, form and fitness all suffered and he looked a shadow (though slightly larger!) of his former dangerous self. A move always looked likely, but with loan moves for Jason Koumas, Craig Bellamy and Andy Keogh in the pipeline – McCormack was allowed to move to Leeds and re-vitalise his career.

McCormack is yet to find the net for his new club, after suffering an injury and again struggling to regain full match fitness. Nine of his twelve appearances to date have been from the bench, but he has started the last two games for the Whites and is likely to play again tonight against his former team-mates and fans.

McCormack never publically criticised Dave Jones, but his frustration was evident and many fans some sympathy for his plight. He was never neglected as such, but was certainly marginalised and Jones failed to maximise his clear ability after the first season. He would love a goal tonight to prove a point to everyone at CCS.

Ross McCormack has played 80 minutes of football at the CCS this season, scoring both of his seasons goals in the process during a League cup tie with Burton Albion. With the state of Cardiff City’s defence at present – he must be confident of adding to that tally and opening his Leeds’ account in style.

Ross was unlucky. I think his off-field problems came at the wrong time but DJ never liked him – I can see his scoring tonight, but then again my sister’s pet rabbit could get past Naylor, Blake and co.

I dare say your pet rabbit could could past ’em. Especially as they won’t even be on the pitch. They’re not playing luv..lol

I think rotherhamwhite might have been suggesting that Richard Naylor wouldn’t be playing (he’s injured)…..I think aderyn las was thinking more of Lee Naylor and Darcy Blake – who could well both be playing

you ‘could could past’ be right there…. ‘luv’…

With a top two place beckoning for the winner it will no doubt be a draw!!

Probably not with our defence and yours now at the moment!
I can us going back to 4-3-3 so Ross might not start but if he does £5 on him scoring first!
