McCormack Blast For Cardiff City Chiefs

Cardiff City’s wantaway striker Ross McCromack has again made comments in the press certain to disappoint Bluebirds fans after declaring his dismay at the price tag placed on him by the club. So far, only Hull City and Portsmouth have expressed an interest but both were put off by the £5m valuation.


It’s just a few short weeks since McCormack penned a bumper new deal with the Bluebirds, but always maintained he would wish to speak to any Premiership club interested in his services. Doubts over his place in the team, behind Michael Chopra and fears over being shunted to a wide role have prompted repeated media comments by the Scottish Internation – he has now spoken out over his value. McCormack told the Hull Daily Mail:


‘I’d probably say £5million is an over-valuation for someone who’s had one season in England and done well. I joined for about £100,000, so it’s a lot of money.’

‘I think it’s pricing people out of the market, but if a club wants someone enough, they’ll pay it.’


If McCormack truly believes he is an International player, and of Premiership quality – then £5m is not such a high fee, especially given the 4 years remaining on his deal and his young age.

Either way, McCormack’s future surely lies away from the Cardiff City Stadium with these latest comments sure to alienate him even further from the coaching staff, and his team-mates. He is unlikely to start against Scunthorpe United on Saturday and many signs point to the player trying to force through a move to Hull city – the dubious world of footballing agents and under-hand transfer dealings continues…


More worryingly is that if McCormack does leave, or is not selected we are desperately short of attacking options. Bothroyd is carrying an injury, Chopra is fit but Pericard is yet to win a contract and Paul Parry (often used as an auxiliary striker) has departed for Preston.
