Marshall Voted Best Recruit By Cardiff City Fans

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones wanted 8 new faces as he searches to go one better this year and achieve at least a play-off place. The loss of Paul Parry, Darren Purse and especially Roger Johnson will have left a big hole while the departures of loan players Tom Heaton and Eddie Johnson will be less detrimental.

Jones moved quickly to sign David Marshall following the relegation of Norwich City, before opting to sign Mark Hudson and Anthony Gerrard to bolster the centre-back division. All three have forced their way into the starting XI and impressed so far.
Additionally, Jones identified the full-back position as a weakness for the Bluebirds and returned to Motherwell to snap up their captain and combative right-back Paul Quinn. His inclusion is likely to necessitate shifting one of our most impressive and consistent players (Kevin McNaughton) to a left-back role.

Michael Chopra was on-loan for much of last season, and was not included as a ‘new` signing but the remaining four have all become first choices in their respective positions and look set to become important players this season.

Goalkeeper David Marshall was the clear winner polling over half the vote. He has made some outstanding saves and showed decent communication with his defence.

There is more to come from the Scotsman who, after all, is learning to play with a new bunch of players while 3 from his back 4 is also a new player.

Although early to decides, it looks as though Cardiff City have finally found the long-term answer to their goalkeeping issues and the eventual successor to Neil Alexander.
