Manchester City have allowed on-loan goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to remain at Cardiff City until the new year, at which point the loan can be extended to the end of the season.
The Danish goalkeeper arrived at Ninian Park after goalkeeping issues saw Ross Turnbull return to Middlesborough and Michael Oakes fail to hold down the number 1 shirt.
Schmeichel is highly rated and played well for Man City in the Premiership this season but has fallen behind Joe Hart and Andreak Isaksson in the order.
Manchester City are expected to inset a clause allowed them to recall Schmeichel should they suffer injuries in that department.
