A January report (found here) discussed a potential link developing between Cardiff City FC, and MTK Hungaria.

The deal saw one player join up with the Bluebirds on tria, with the promise of more to come as Cardiff looked to benefit from the European market in return for our support of the Hungarian side’s academy.

The deal hit a snag when MTK pulled out of the deal and promised to review its position at a later date. It now seems that Liverpool have agreed a similar agreement with the club and left Cardiff City out of the equation.

The Reds recently signed Andras Simon and Krisztian Nemeth from MTK, these players may have been coming to Cardiff had the relationship continued.

MTK revealed they had interest from other clubs but Liverpool’s status and the presence of Rafa Benitez clinched it for Liverpool who will have fist pick of the many promising youngsters coming from the club.
