Cardiff City’s long-serving midfielder and hometown hero Joe Ledley has recovered earlier than expected and has been given the go-ahead to face Swansea City in Sunday’s South Wales derby game.

Ledley broke his finger against Crytal Palace and needed surgery to insert a pin into his hand. He was expected to be out for over a month but after having a finger splint applied he is now ready and raring to go.

Referee for the clash Martin Atkinson will inspect the cast prior to kick-off to ensure there is no danger to players but Cardiff City have received advice and are confident there will be no problem.

Ledley is an important player for City and pulled out all the stops to ensure he was available for the crucial derby game. He may start on the left replacing the out of position Ross McCormack although many fans would prefer to see Ledley in the middle at the expense of Stephen McPhail.
