Late Heartbreak Once Again For Cardiff City

It was late heartbreak once again for Cardiff City after coming agonisingly close to what would have been a spectacular away point at Arsenal. Having defended resolutely for 85 minutes, two late goals again ruined a good afternoon’s work.

Bendtner reacted well to fire home the winner, and Theo Walcott’s dinked shot just added more cruelty. You wouldn’t say the win flattered Arsenal in any way, they dominated the game and would expect to win it 9 times out of 10. However, those opportunities to steal a point are crucial and, but not for late goals in back-to-back games, we would have had 3 additional points.

Craig Noone looked bright for City, and Jordon Mutch too. Fraizer Campbell’s work-rate was exemplary but there were few chances for the Bluebirds. Mutch and Campbell had decent efforts, but the closest we came was when Nacho Monreal blatantly handballed a Craig Noone cross.

The results will forever say 2-0 to Arsenal, but the determination and work-rate shown was very satisfying. We will need a huge amount of character over the coming months, but that performance showed that, fot the moment at least, we have plenty of spirit and competed well for large periods of the game. Once again we fell agonisingly short, just how much more heartache can we take?!?
