Cardiff City are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by Rickie Lambert in the two one victory over Rotherham United at the weekend at the New York Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Lambert was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Not the youngest strike force you’ll see, with Lambert completing this week’s line-up at the age of 34. But all that experience proved invaluable as the Cardiff front man led the fightback at Rotherham United, scoring two late goals to hand the Bluebirds all three points.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Lambert for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Stuart Nelson (Gillingham), Paul McShane (Reading), Luke Croll (Exeter City), Aden Flint (Bristol City), Ryan Colclough (MK Dons), Gary Roberts (Portsmouth), Kieran Lee (Sheffield Wednesday), Cameron McGeehan (Luton Town), Joao Teixeira (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Glenn Murray (Brighton), Rickie Lambert (Cardiff City).

Manager – Keith Hill (Rochdale).
