Cardiff weren’t able to push a deal over the line for Norwich’s Kyle Lafferty but West Brom’s former Bristol Rovers, Southampton, Liverpool and England international Rickie Lambert was confirmed.

The past year or two have been, in all honesty, pretty poor for Lambert as he’s struggled for regular first-team football at West Brom (and Liverpool before that) with things pretty much going downhill since he was involved in the England squad at the 2014 World Cup!

Lambert at his best, with him proven beyond a doubt at Championship level (as he was, to be fair in the Premier League), should make him a fine addition to the Cardiff squad and hopeful bring us the goals that have been lacking for the Bluebirds.

A undisclosed fee was paid for the 34-year-old, who commented on the official website following his arrival.

‘I am very excited to be here at Cardiff City. The sooner I can get on the scoresheet and start helping my new club, the better. I’m used to being relied on to score goals.’

He’s signed a two-year deal with Cardiff and has been handed the no.19 shirt with his debut coming after the international break.
