Cardiff City manager Malky Mackay handed a debut to South Korean starlet Kim Bo Kyung with the midfielder brought on for the final 10 minutes as City recorded a 2-0 victory away at Millwall.

Kim replaced the impressive Craig Noone, who provided one assist and one goal in the win, but will City content to see the game out and Millwall pushing forward – there were few chances for Kim to show any real influence on the game.

His one real contribution was to concede a free-kick after handling the ball but he did look neat and energetic and will look to push on and earn a place in Malky’s starting XI.

A worrying injury to Nicky Maynard man see more chances for Kim and Mason, both of which could push for a place on either flank, or just behind the lone striker Helguson – with the Icelander well suited to a lone striker’s role.

After being restricted to bench duty since arriving from South Korea, it was good to finally see Kim Bo Kyung on the pitch as a Cardiff City player. He is clearly an exciting talent with a big role to play over the coming season so we look forward to seeing more – he certainly got a big cheer after a lengthy request to ‘do the Ayatollah’ !!
