Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has delivered a stern warning to his underperforming squad threatening every player’s place in the team ahead of the exciting FA Cup quarter final away at Middlesborough.

Jones told the Western Mail:

‘If there are minds on the FA Cup game then they want an absolute kicking because they shouldn`t be.’

‘Of course if players don`t perform at Palace then I would pull them out for the Cup game. I have no sentiment when it comes to that.’

Cardiff have been in woeful form and have not registered a single goal against 3 relegation threatened sides in consecutive matches. A terrible performance in defeat to Leicester City saw some players looking disinterested and some wonderered if attentions had already switched to the cup game.

The threat realistically carries little threat as Jones does not have the resources to replace any under-performing players. That of course has been the problem all season. McPhail, Rae, Capaldi, Whittingham, Hasselbaink have all played through poor patches simply because there are too few options.

Any players that do underform against Palace are unlikely to be replaced. Sinclair, Scimeca and Thompson are the only possible replacements into the current team but two are very short of match fitness and the other hasn’t started a game for months and appears a last resort to Dave Jones.
