Cardiff City need have no fears about losing (or being relieved of) manager Dave Jones after the new Blackburn Rovers owners confirmed that caretaker boss Steve Kean is to remain at the helm until the end of the season.

Rumours have been rife that Dave Jones was a serious contender to take over in the wake of Sam Allardyce’s controversial sacking. Some bookmakers had Jones as one of the frontrunners, despite his lack of experience in the Premiership.

With Kean to continue until May, it seems certain that Rovers will be looking to appoint a big name over the summer and will mull over their options in the meantime. This almost certainly rules out Dave Jones.

Blackburn Rovers may yet be in contact with the Bluebirds over a potential move for striker Michael Chopra. The former Nerwcastle United man has an Indian father and could be seen as an enticing proposition for the new owners.
