Jones Angry At Referee

Cardiff City boss Dave Jones watched his side claw their way back into the game with Luton at Kenilworth Road last night then launched an attack on referee Andy Woolmer.

Jason Koumas orchestrated a fantastic fight back by the Bluebirds, but had referee Woolmer been doing his job properly then Cardiff could have been heading home with all three points instead of just the one.

Cardiff had got the game back to 3-3 after being 2-0 and 3-1 down, but the chance of winning the game was taken away when Woolmer ignored claims for a stone wall penalty after Kevin Nicholls brought down Koumas.

Jones fumed: ‘Coming back from two goals down should feel like a win, but when you see the performance of the referee it feels like a loss.

‘For me to have a go at an official takes an awful lot, but the assessor should be showing the referee and the linesman a tape of that game.

‘For the pair of them to miss that is unacceptable at this level or any level.

‘When two teams are knocking seven bells out of each other trying to get out of this division you expect a better job.

‘We get paid, well paid, but he gets paid and he hasn’t done his job today.

‘The pair of them bottled it and I use that word because there are stronger ones I could use.

‘Somebody should look at them and give them a break or a holiday – they need it because they’re clearly not up to this level.

‘It was a great comeback to get a point, but if the referee had done his job properly I could be saying it was a fantastic comeback.’
