Transfer news at Cardiff City has been quiet of late, but we are assured plenty of work is ongoing behind the scenes.

However, there was a hugely welcome boost today from the other side of England with Ipswich Town set to land Leicester City’s Gareth MacAuley. This would then end their interest in Cardiff City’s own Roger Johnson.

Whilst a deal never looked likely, Ipswich’s interest in Roger was unwelcome and he remains one player we MUST hang onto.

Finally, after several difficult years we are able to stave off unwanted bids for our players. We told Ipswich where to go in simple terms and they had to listen, or pay up £3m which would be a lot for a player with relatively little Championship experience.

The indications really to point to an end to our financial difficulties and recent big money moves for Whittingham, Johnson and Parry have all been rejected out of hand and all three look to be staying.

If no one else leaves, the incoming players will determine whether we can challenge for promotion. Ched Evans and Michael Chopra are both linked strongly and both would surely make a massive difference.

It’s not over yet. Ipswich are still keen on Johnson. He is undoubtedly a quality player, and Ipswich’s priority this summer is goalkeeper and back four.
