Injury Blow For Cardiff City ‘Keeper

Cardiff City goalkeeper David Marshall has withdrawn from International duty with Scotland after picking up an elbow injury during the 1-1 draw with Sheffield United yesterday.

Marshall had been due to miss tomorrow’s Carling Cup clash with Burton Albion through International duty and manager Craig Levein has previously rejected a plea from Dave Jones that he be omitted in order to play for the Bluebirds.

Goalkeeper Tom Heaton was finally registered with the Football League on Friday, and will take over the number one jersey for the Cup clash. Whilst Marshall’s injury is not thought to be serious, he may be struggling to be available for Saturday’s trip to face Derby County. Heaton will be looking to stake a claim for regular first team action and a prolonged run between the posts.
