Cardiff City’s in-form striker Ross McCormack has been called up to George Burley’s Scotland squad for the International challenge match vs Argentina on Wednesday 19th November.

McCormack has been in excellent form since moving from Motherwell in the summer, and until recently was leading the Championship goal-scoring charts. However, he suffered a hamstring injury during a 2-1 defeat at home to Wolves after netting a goal. Wolves boss Mick McCarthy rated McCormack as the best in the division following the game.

Initially expected to be our for a month, McCormack is making decent progress and is itching to return to action and continue his good form. It seems unlikely he will feature in the Scotland game but his call-up indicates his growing reputation and his call-up comes at the expense of Garry O’Connor of Birmingham City.

There is no place in the squad for Kevin McNaughton or Gavin Rae while former Bluebird Neil Alexander also misses out.

Good luck to the boy! Surprised old Alexander wasn’t called up into the squad. And also, slighty surpsrised that there is no room for McNaughton. Not surprised, however, that Rae wasn’t mentioned.
